Tubbie-A Car to be
Reckoned with
Story by Maria Erickson, Staff Writer
This sweet street rod is owned by
Bonnie Moebeck of St. Francis. She
bought it back in 2005 from a private party in MRSA’s
“Linechaser”. She fell in love with the
“tubbed out” design. But “Tubbie” as she
is well known by, didn’t come with her personality until Bonnie had the flames
and the graphics added to the car’s rear.
She contacted Leroy’s Paint in Coon Rapids. They did the flames and “Gator” did the actual
Tubbie graphic in the back. Bonnie also
owns a Teal Blue 1967 ½ Pontiac Ventura and also a 1940 Chevy Pickup Truck. I have found in the 6
years I have owned my
car, female owners are far and few between.
To find one who presently owns 3 classics is unheard of. Just talking with Bonnie defines the true
heart of a classic car enthusiast. I
asked her what she paid for the car. She
got this incredible street rod for $18,000.
She is worth every penny. She
drives each of her classics every chance she gets. I had to laugh when I asked her which of them
her favorite was; she couldn’t make up her mind. After going back and forth several times, she
finally stated, “They are ALL my favorite.
They each have a personality all their own. Well, I think once you see “Tubbie” you will
fall in love with her as well. She
is quite the character. You can see
Tubbie this week at the Feature car of the week’s NEW location on the pavilion
right across the street from the courthouse.
