A Sight to Behold
By Maria Erickson-staff writer

June-2011-Feature-car_streeAfter missing the official kickoff to the show, the drivers were more determined than ever to make May 21st the first show of the year….rain or shine.

When Dave Robideau of Andover drove into our first show in Anoka with this 1933 Ford Street rod, every head turned quickly and the judges had to do a double take.  This 3 window coupe is truly a sight to behold.  Canary yellow, Dave put this beautiful piece of machinery together from scratch and from bits and pieces here and there.  It has a Pete and Jakes Chassis and fiberglass body and you will need sunglasses to look at her.  This kit took nearly 18 months to assemble.  He then made a second one identical after the first one was complete.  But he now has it down to a science so the second one took only three months to complete.  It has the typical suicide doors and the interior is two shades of grey.  The engine is a Chevy 350 and the car sports power windows and a power trunk lift.  Given the total weight of the car itself, I am sure that this street rod goes like the wind.

Dave also just finished his daughter’s 1966 Mustang and it is equally as beautiful as Dave’s street rod.  Dave is originally from Coon Rapids area.  Make sure you make it over to the new staging area where we place each feature car of the week….I won’t have to tell you where that is, with this car there, you won’t miss it!
