“Praise the Lowered”
By Maria Erickson-Staff Writer

June-25-Feature-CarThe judge's choice this week was a surprise, and also a thrilling one. This will be out website's first "Rat Rod". It is also one of the sweetest rides by one of the greatest guys. This 1937 Chevy truck was found on "Hokey A** Message Board, (H.A.M.B.)" by Randy Rudrud of Plymouth, who has been a motor head since high school. By the time I got to Ol' Skool to shoot her, there was such a crowd standing around this rat rod that I had to shoo them away. If I wouldn't have, I would still be waiting for the crowd to clear so I could get a clear shot. Since I only speak muscle, I had to get a lesson in speaking Rat Rod 101 and Randy was more than willing to teach me.

Randy chopped, channeled and frame Z'd this himself. He also painted it himself using Rustoleum Flat Black. Randy has owned so many classics in his young life that he has truly lost count. He states he has about $16,000 into this rat rod. When asked which of all of his cars his favorite was, he had to really think. It was a toss-up between Ol' Skool and a 1968 Camaro RS/SS that he owns that has a 540 that puts out 805 hp...I must tell you, I love hp as much as the next girl, but this Ol' Skool rat rod has me swooning. Even if you don't understand rat rods, take a couple of minutes and go check this one out...you may not "get" them when you get there, but you truly will be once you see it! Congrats Randy, on being the FIRST rat rod chosen as our feature car of the week.
